Outstanding film assessments start here! Down to Earth - Homer Croy's continuation to "They had to See Paris" has nouveau riche Midwesterner Rogers setting an end to his family's meaningless investing by affirming that he's broke. Not one of Will Roger's best film attempts. Cast includes Can Rogers, Irene Opulent, Dorothy Jordan, and Mary Carlisle. (73 minutes, 1932)

The Horse Whisperer - After her daughter is gravely hurt in a horse riding accident, her affluent mother takes the horse to a celebrated horse whisperer in Montana. A romance between the two follows.

In Enemy Country - So-so designer of WW2 enthrall, set in France and England, filmed on a back-lot. Not especially persuading. Cast includes Tony Franciosa, Anjanette Comer, Guy Stockwell, Paul Hubschmid, Tom Bell, and Emile Genest. (107 minutes, 1968)

Thunderheart - There have been a number of killings on the Sioux Indian Reservation. The FBI goes in to deal with the situation. One agent, Ray Levoi, has Sioux blood. As he investigates the case he soon finds out there is much more going on than some chance killings.

Ivan the Terrible - Continuation of the story of King Ivan IV, in which he takes on the boyars in a battle for power. Extraordinary film is just a trace underneath its predecessor, Forbidden by Stalin due to controversial illustration of Ivan's secret patrol, and not released till 1958. Cast includes Nikolai Cherkassov; Serafima Birman, Mikhail Nazvanov, Pavel Kadochnikov, and Andrei Abrikosov. (88 minutes, 1946)

Solar Crisis - Futuristic sci-fi thriller with Matheson leading a save the Earth mission to the sun to stop a solar flash from annihilating the world. Fine visual effects and enthralling story in space harmed by world pranks of poor boy Boyle who outrageously desires to weaken the mission. Cast includes Tim Matheson, Charlton Heston, Peter Boyle, and Annabel Schofield. (112 minutes, 1990)

Black like Me - Influential drama based on actual history of a journalist who took drugs that permitted him to pass for black so he might face racial prejudice first hand. Some facets of presentation are un-contemporary, although topics are still pertinent. Cast includes James Whitmore, Roscoe Lee Browne, Lenka Petersen, Sorrell Booke, Will Geer, Al Freeman, and Raymond Jacques. (107 minutes, 1964)

Hanky Panky - Blameless designer Wilder is chased by snoops, cops, etc. Unsurprising, hardly preposterous comedy-thriller, with Radner miscast as the love interest. The film was meant to be a follow-up to Stir Crazy, although Richard Pryor's part was modified for Gilda. You have watched it all before, and more superior. Cast includes Gene Wilder, Gilda Radner, Kathleen Quinlan, Richard Widmark, Robert Prosky, Josef Sommer, and Johnny Sekka. (88 minutes, 1982)

10,000 B.C. - Warlords have attacked a small mountain tribe in prehistoric times. They have captured the picturesque Evolet. D'Leh, who loves Evolet, leads a small party of men ready to go the ends of the Earth to save Evolet.
