Hoop Dreams: Magnificent documentary follows 2 Chicago central-city kids (Arthur Agee and William Bars), who have fantasies of basketball stardom, over 4 years' time. This quaint and immersing film plays like drama, not documentary, with the exception of that it takes spontaneous twists and turns no author might create. Repo Man: Immediate cult-film in regards to a new wave delinquent who takes a job recouping automobiles. The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe: This is a witty re-creation of Lily Tomlin's 1985 one female Broadway show. AI Artificial Intelligence: In the near future, scientist Hurt and his team create a highly advanced android kid who might experience feelings, containing love. His adoption by a nice couple who have lost a child is riddled with complications. This enthralling tale draws us in, thanks in part to Osment's magnificent performance. Cast includes Haley Joel Osment, Jude Ordinance, Frances O'Connor, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Robards, William Hurt, Jake Thomas, Ken Leung, Michael Mantell, and Adrian Grenier. (145 minutes, 2001)
